Ponniyathankam
The Ponniyathankam Kalari in Kathiroor was an important centre of Kerala's heritage Kalaripayattu. It is believed that this Kalari was run by the famous Kathiroor Gurus. Many youths were trained in martial arts and developed physical fitness and self-control. This Kalari gained more fame with the support of the Kottayam Thampuran. The Ponniyathankam Kalari is still remembered as the cultural and historical pride of Kathiroor.
